Blinds For Recreational Vehicles

Your stuck-in-the-mud home doesn't have to be your only piece of property that looks great. While for those of us who are living the dream: retired and touring the world, adding some blinds to your caravan or recreational vehicle can be the last touch that makes it truly home. With a good custom blinds store, ordering blinds for your caravan or travel trailer is not much different than ordering for the home.

Wood blinds add a nice touch to the interior, but be careful putting them in the bathroom or other wet areas. Whether you are camping in the remote desert or in an oceanside RV park, feeling a sense of privacy in a motor-home is hard without planning ahead. A good quality routless wood blind should be able to completely shut out the light. Whether you want to take a midday nap or just relax in the privacy of your home, not having window coverings can ruin your day.

The easiest blind for your RV is the aluminum mini blind. When painted, these blinds shut out the light and are easy to raise and lower. Metal blinds are tough unless they get bent, in which case they are very hard to repair. They can be a little heavier than a wood blind. Like wood blinds, they can be cut to your specifications.

Privacy wraps and pull-down pleated blinds are made from fabric. They are light and easy to install, however much care must be taken to match your decor because it is hard to make fabric blinds look classy or inviting. While they do not shut out the light as completely as wood blinds, they are a snap to open and shut. Even small children have no trouble manipulating this type of window blind. Cassette type cellular blinds are popular and will eliminate almost all outside light. The dual layer design makes sure no light seeps in through the cracks.

There is nothing worse than feeling like you are not home in the place you choose to live. You should not have to compromise just because you are on the road. Wood blinds can make a great interior regardless of the location. The light weight of hardwood actually makes it preferable over metal or faux wood blinds.

Just like the home, RV blinds limit the amount of UV light your furniture receives. Cloth blinds are tough to clean and aluminum is fragile and requires cleaning of the slats one by one. Wood blinds are easier to clean and make the home look, well homey. When driving, keep the blinds up so they don't sway and break out of their mountings. This also increases visibility in an RV. Reflective silver blinds will have the opposite effect on people on the outside, so keeping them down while driving may be a hazard for blinding other drivers. Keeping the blinds down may keep the caravan cool in the summer, but be careful that they don't swing and hit anything.
