Amphibious RC Toys - The True All Terrain Vehicles

If there will be a global survey as to the top ten favorite playthings, RC toys would definitely be in the top three, if not the highest, position. This is because these toys are so popular that people from all walks of life and in all age brackets would really love to get hold of one. There are many types of toys from land and water vehicles to airplanes and helicopters. Yet there is one RC toy that seems to be gaining popularity, particularly among the younger generation. These are the amphibious RC toys which seemed to have perfected the all terrain RC toy classification.

Those toys are different from those which have hovercraft designs. With an RC toy hovercraft, you might skid along land, water, snow, and water, but these types of designs encounter some difficulty in negotiating rough terrain. This is because RC toy hovercrafts work only on flat and almost flat surfaces but never on an uneven and rocky path because the air that its fan pushes downward easily dissipates on these types of surfaces.

The new amphibious RC toys, meanwhile, have an off-road vehicle design that allows it to negotiate all types of surfaces, whether rocky, grassy, or smooth, with ease and speed. The designs of these new breed of toys are almost always similar. They all have extra large wheels, albeit the rear wheels are slightly bigger than the front. Their large wheels have also large grooves to help it negotiate land, water or mud. On land, these rear wheels work just like a dream because of its ability to hug the ground. When the amphibious vehicle is on water, the wheels act like a paddle and an outboard engine at the same time. Though it may not have the speed of an RC toy boat, it still can cross a body of water at a fast pace.

A lot of these toys have four wheels on it but there are newer designs with only three wheels. These latest models showcase a single, really large wheel at the rear and two smaller wheels at the front. Most of the steering is done by the powerful rear wheel and though this may come as quite disconcerting at first, you will be able to handle it efficiently with constant practice. Because of the big thrust power of its engines, it can fly off large ramps of more than three feet high, enabling it to swing itself more than six feet high into the air and land on the ground unscathed.

These new breed of amphibious RC toys hold much promise for all enthusiasts and will probably stay for a long period of time. So if you want to have one of these latest models, you might want to visit your favorite store and get it.
