Three Classic Car Pranks That Almost Always Work

Cars are classic prank targets, at least in part because there are so many of them around and people who own them generally consider them essential. The term often used is "my car" instead of "the car" as people also feel ownership towards their car, making pranks more effective as well. Here are a few classic pranks.

Our first prank is to leave a note on the car apologizing for the accident. Of course no accident ever occurred and watching someone walking around and around their car looking for non existent damage can be very amusing! The note may leave a non working or illegible number to call, or might just say "sorry, but I'm not telling you who I am" or similar. A classic twist is to add that there are witnesses, they think I'm leaving my name and number, but they are wrong! This one can keep a person confused for days. They'll even have their friends and family walk around looking for damage, and sometimes even take the car to a mechanic for inspection. Make sure your handwriting is not recognizable, or get someone else to write the note!

Prank two involves filling the car with some type of objects or substances. You might for example fill the entire car with balloons, or shredded newspaper. Once I saw a car's trunk and back seat filled with what appeared to be a couple of tons of bricks. The car was almost dragging on the ground, but the owner got in and drove off without immediately noticing! Balloons are easier than bricks, and weighting down a car excessively might have side effects too, for example safety related ones. This prank works especially well if the car is only parked briefly, and you have a small team that fills it up with balloons or whatever very quickly.

In classic number three, you roll down a window all the way, and throw some broken glass or a broken glass look alike (sometimes available from joke shops). It will look like the window is broken, and this one almost always gets them! They may call the police, their insurance company, or take other significant action quickly so you might want to stop laughing long enough to fill them in on the joke. Them again, if you are there and laughing they might figure it out on their own.
