Four Wheel Drive Showers

Four Wheel Drive Showers have been a luxury that exists in the camping world for quite some time now. The variety of Portable Showers is quite large, but you can get something that suits your requirements and budget. The base model Portable Showers are designed with a small 12v pump that runs on batteries or off your car's cigarette lighter. This pumps warm water (that you heat up on the stove) up to a shower rose and onto the person in the shower. These are very cheap, and you can even get a shower tent for fewer than 40 dollars for the privacy that most people require.

Alternatively, you can put a heat exchanger in your engine bay, which warms water as it flows through the engine bay. This is a more expensive set up, but well worth it. The water tends to be more controllable, and you can have a much longer shower. I would suggest for those that go camping regularly, this is a great option. You can install the whole setup in your car in under a day's work, and it's quite simple too.

Alternatively you can use bags which heat the water up, and a pump to move the water on top of you, or there are even stands which have water tanks and gas burners incorporated in them. For those who are good with your hands, you can make a portable shower set up which pumps water out of a stream, filters it, warms it up and then dumps it on the person having a shower. The limit to what you can do is really nothing, but it takes a bit of thought. At the end of the day though having a four wheel drive shower mounted on your car will make the whole family enjoy camping much more!
