The Unusual Ways Office Chair Wheels Affect Office Productivity

For those of us who has to spend most of our time sitting in a chair at the office, it can seem like an eternity of pain. Our chair is uncomfortable and has no maneuverability whatsoever. That is why it is important to know why office chair wheels can instantly give you a new lease on life. Get the workforce motivated and get their stress levels down by investing in good solid chairs with high quality casters.

Coming to work should be seen as a happy and exhilarating time each day because that is where your skills are practiced and that is where your creativity should soar. But sitting in a chair which has no wheels or even worse a chair that has broken casters, can leave us with all sorts of ailments like lower back pain, neck pain and headaches. Our shoulders and arms also take a beating because we are virtually lift weights in the form of our chairs.

The fact of the matter is that we need to stand up without having to pick up the chair first by pushing it gently to the back and with no effort at all. This puts a lot of pressure on the spine because your arms are stretching backwards while you are pushing forward to get up. Many spine injuries are a result of pressure on the spine that causes misalignment.

Many chiropractors will attest that this is a main reason why people come in for alignments and massages on their spine. So much damage is caused that return treatments are necessary. This equates to taking time off work which makes you unproductive.

Another huge area where we put pressure on our bodies is our necks. This happens when we have to turn to get a file or stretch to pick something up from the floor, or talk to someone on either side of us. We pull our neck muscles too far by doing this continuously. If we cannot turn our bodies without having to use our necks too much, injury occur which are painful to say the least.

Having a chair which has broken casters or some that do not turn at all, can also cause lower backache. You are constantly having to push-pull your chair to get the casters working, and this is exactly where lower back injury happens. You tend to sit with your heels on the floor to get a grip which is unhealthy posture to say the least.

It has been observed in many office environments that with chairs working well and giving staff the needed support, if improves office productivity almost one hundred percent. Fatigue is also reduced drastically which equates to an uplifted workforce. Having the ability to turn to your colleague without being in pain will improve office morale instantly.

Although today's chairs are ergonomically designed to give us comfort and support, they can be a waste of time and money if not fitted with proper office chair wheels. Give your body a break and see that all the castors are functioning properly.
