Zipp 404 Wheels

I have been competing in triathlons for 3 years now and just finished my first Ironman race. I was amazed at how many Zipp wheels were in the Ironman race. There were easily more riders using Zipp wheels than all other brands combined. I talked to as many of the other racers as I could about their choice of Zipp as their wheel. Every competitor had only good things to say about the choice of Zipp wheels and the 404 model was the most used there. I was told that the Zipp 404 was the best overall competition choice. They all said they were the fastest and best wheel they had run on their bikes. Not one negative comment! That was hard for me to believe. So, I went to my favorite review web site. The overall opinion there was the same. They are not just great wheels but they are also fast and stable. I have listed one of the reviews below.

I completed my 50 mile training loop 4/10 of a mile per hour faster on my average pace...with a hard headwind for over half of the ride. It might not seem like a huge difference, but it was! I had to have them! I searched the internet for price and found the Zipp 404's for a price of $1,999.00. The price at my local bike shop was $2,285.00 which was the same price everywhere else I looked. I had the 404's on my bike in a week. First time buying bike parts from anyone other than my local bike shop, I was a little nervous.

I have a 25 mile training circuit I use all the time. I average 20.2 miles per hour with my 2 year old Cervelo P2 with the original wheels. I have run the Zipp 404 wheels 5 times now and averaged 22.9 miles per hour. Impressed? I was. I really did not think I would gain that much. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am now a believer in the Zipp 404 wheel set.
